Thanks to partnerships with our key training providers, Cape Breton University and Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC), LearnCorp
International students receive a valuable, hands-on learning experience from
highly skilled and qualified professionals in the field who are always available
to assist students.
Specifically, Cape Breton University’s customized training programs for the energy
sector are taught by professional engineers with a minimum of five
years experience
in the sector, or by contract trainers with upwards of 25 years experience
in the
field. The contract trainers are normally hired for very specific/unique topics
and bring
relevant educational credentials and related industry expertise in engineering,
education and technology to the student and classroom experience.
This blend of academic credentials and industry experience is epitomized by NSCC's
philosophy of "hiring experts in the field and then teaching them to be instructors." This is accomplished by the NSCC policy of requiring all instructors to take
their CCEDP (Community College Education Diploma Program), which is an intensive
program designed to prepare individuals with professional and vocational
expertise to undertake roles as adult educators and leaders in post-secondary
education.
As a result, all personnel within the NSCC are committed to maintaining currency within their
discipline/occupational area, and possess:
• Relevant education and qualifications;
• Relevant occupational experience and employment; and
• Extensive knowledge of current trends and issues in field.
